Currently Hackney Council / TfL are running many active consultations! Read on for more details, and information about how you can give your input into these plans.
Dalston Liveable Neighbourhood

- We ask that you please support this scheme as it would substantially improve the environment for walking and cycling in the area
- However, the proposed filters would leave a route open for throrugh traffic from Cecilla Road to Montague Road, and the scheme should be adjusted to address this
The consultation closes on 24th August
Hackney Downs Quietway

- This is worth supporting as it would introduce new crossings for pedestrians and cyclists that would connect London Fields with the new Dalston Liveable Neighbourhood
- Additional interventions would be required though, to reduce traffic volumes on Navarino Road and ensure it is safe and attractive for people of all ages / abilities to cycle on
- Also, the chicanes on the cycle tracks from Sigdon Road / Spurstow Terrace seem unnecessary, and reminiscent of the questionable approach used on Butterfield Green (which has seen many tweaks with added signage / street furniture since)
The consultation closes on 25th August
Hoxton Liveable Neighbourhood

- Overall we support this scheme. Preventing the cut through from Crondall Street > Falkirk Street is particularly excellent!
- However the proposals leave several through routes for motor vehicles open, which should be addressed, ideally with an additional filters on Hoxton Street just south of Stanway Street
- It is concerning that Cycleway 1 which runs through the area does not seem to have been the priority for traffic reduction. As the proposals stand:
- Whitmore Road will remain hostile to all age / ability cycling
- Mintern Street will remain a possible through route for motor vehicles. A filter here would reduce conflict at the junction with Pitfield Street, and improve east-west connectivity for cycling
- The southern end of Pitfield Street will continue to have too high levels of motor traffic for a cycleway, and unsafe overtaking will persist
The consultation closes on 14th September
Shoreditch High Street

London Cycling Campaign have a detailed response to the proposals here, but to summarise:
- It is safer than the current layout, but still not safe enough!
- TfL for some reason is unwilling to design or build proper protected junctions for cycling
- Best practices seen elsewhere in the country (Greater Manchester, Waltham Forest, Newham) point the way forward with a more inclusive approach
The consultation closes on 25th September
